Net Name conflict in Virtuoso XL (layout vs. schematic)

Hi all:

I am doing layout of my circuit subblock, and just wrapped up DRC portion. I am coming across a very frustrating, and peculiar issue in Virtuoso XL of my layout. I am using icfb 5141 version.

My problem is, when I check the connectivity property of nets in the layout XL editor, it'll always say vss or vdd, and it's grayed out, so I can't edit it. For example. I have a M3 net that's got a M3 pin named vdd on it, but the connectivity portion of the net says vss for some reason. I also have many instances where one strip of the M1 net is called vdd under connectivity property for that net, but another M1 that branches off of the aforementioned net is labeled vss. This doesn't match with schematic at all.

I tried Andrew beckett's advice on a related post "Try using menus such as Connectivity->Check->Against Source and Connectivity->Update->Components and Nets to check/update your design rather than reinitialising from scratch." but to no avail ...

Any advice/opinion is much appreciated. Working against a time crunch here so I'll be constantly checking this post and provide more info/clarification if you need them. Thank you all again in advance!

    Hi Jim

Actually I think "Update components and nets" should be able to resolve the problem, this is quite strange. Would you please provide the following info?

    terminal>icfb -W

The latest version of IC5141 is 5141.500.6.143. If your version is very out-dated, perhaps it might be good to first retry using the latest version. If this is very urgent, it would be best for you to contact your local Cadence support. : )

    Best regards
