Spectre stability analysis

 Hi,

When I do a stability analysis (stb) using Spectre, I would like to know how the open loop gain is computed. In most of case, a transistor is choosed as the probe component. So the loop is opened at this place. I guess an external stimulus is applied at the input of the transistor and the response is measured at this place too. So, how the loop is broken and the loading condition maintained ?

Thanks

Actually usually you'd use the loop-based method (using an iprobe or zero-volt source as the probe device).

Anyway, here's a good paper which describes how it works: http://www.kenkundert.com/docs/cd2001-01.pdf

    Regards,

    Andrew.

OK, thanks.  So the Tian's method is an evolution of Middlebrook's method used in Eldo loop gain simulation.
