Orderly use of Constraint Manager In Vituoso ?

Giora Karni

I use Virtuoso 6.1.4 GXL for creation of analog schematics and layout.  My question relates to the Constraint Manager.

1.  Is there a way to force the constraints in an orderly manner ? (Sometimes they are conflicting each other or conflicting design rules)

    (For example: I wish to align cells in X axis first, and then in Y axis)

2. Is there a tutorial describing the use of constraints like "Cluster" and "Cluster Boundary" ? and perhapse methodology of use ?

    Hi Giora

    1. Currently there is no option to specify the squence of execution of the constraints. Would using "PreserveOrder" option for your alignment constraints resolve your problem?

    2. There is no tutorial for the constraints but some useful info can be found here:

    === Description of new Place and Route objects ===
    $CDSHOME/doc/dfoaAdopt/dfoaAdopt.pdf

    === Constraint methodology ===
    $CDSHOME/doc/constraintsIntro/constraintsIntro.pdf

    Hope that this helps you. : )
