Default settings for ADEXL and OCEANXL

To Whom it May Concern:

I am writing to see if you could look into something for me regarding ADEXL and OCEANXL. It would be very nice to be able to control default settings for ADEXL and OCEANXL through environment variables or skill commands. I see that there are documented environment variables in the ADEXL documentation, and this is nice. My problem is that there does not seem to be a documented environment variable for ADEXL  Plotting/Printing Options.

But I would like it to have the “Auto Plot Outputs After Simulation” box unchecked since for large simulations it takes awhile for these plots to show up. For cadence 6.1.4, I can save this setting for this particular adexl cellview, however, I would like this to be the default. Can you see if there is a way to do this?

I have tried to look into the environment variables, and I found something close: adexl.gui. For setting significant digits, I can set this environment variable in the following manner in my .cdsenv file: adexl.gui significantDigits int 4. This is documented.

I am not sure how this will control OCEANXL’s autoplotting, but right now, OCEANXL wants to autoplot results after it’s simulations are done. How do I avoid this? I tried :

ocnxlOutputSummary(?exprSummary b_exprSummary ?specSummary b_specSummary ?detailed b_detailed ?wave b_wave),
but even when I set b_wave to nil, I OCEANXL tries to plot results. Is this the right command to use for this?

I think this would save me a lot of time and convince a lot of other people to start using ADEXL and OCEANXL. Right now, OCEANXL and ADEXL take a lot of unnecessary time because Auto Plot Outputs After Simulation is checked by default.

 Best,

John

    John,

In general, I'd advise asking questions like this to customer support at http://support.cadence.com - that is what customer support is for. Service Requests are tracked and prioritised, escalations if things aren't being resolved fast enough, and also an avenue for getting bugs and enhancement requests into R&D.

This forum is a community forum and is just monitored by volunteers - inside and outside of Cadence.

Anyway, to answer this question. This is inherited from ADE:

    asimenv.plotting autoPlot boolean t

For the specific types of things to be plotting (in IC614) there's:

    adexl.plotting plotSignals boolean t
    adexl.plotting plotWaveExpressions boolean t
    adexl.plotting plotScalarExpressions boolean t

The autoPlot cdsenv setting also affects OCEAN XL.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
