Updating connectivity in virtuoso XL

Greetings,

I am having difficulty with the connectivity virtuoso XL I copied half a layout and mirrored it and deleted the extra instances but this unfortunately changed the instance numbers on the mirrored portion of the circuit.

This causes the half the pin connectivity to not work any more. Not a huge deal. I tried to fix this by using Connect-> update-> (update source, layout parameters, device correspondance...), but this doesnt resolve the problem. In fact it created a much larger one. I now have flasing yellow marker boxes over the entire circuit. I had this happen once before and i got rid of it. Unfortunately I cant remember how.

First and foremost HOW do i get rid of the flashing yellow marker boxes. My eyes will thank you for answering this one.

As for fixing the connectivity,

I cant quite figure out how to use device correspondence, which sounds like what i need to fix the problem. ( It asks me to click on one or more object in the schematic, so i do and no further instructions pop up)

I went through a few elements and changed the instance numbers to |M1 and |I17. This remaps the layout instances to the schematic, but i dont really want to do this by hand. Is there an automated way to do this? I got the layout lvs clean with out the air wires but they are really handy so getting this to work again would be nice.

     Hi,

I can't believe someone hasn't answered this yet...

It sounds like you are using cds release 5.x (not 6.x)  VXL is quite different between the two versions.

To rid yourself temporarily of the yellow marker boxes you can go to the layoutXL window menu:

Verify->Markers->Delete All and click on delete all on the form that pops up.  This will not prevent the markers from re-appearing when XL extracts again.  You could edit your LSW valid layers and make marker-warning valid and then turn off visibility in the LSW.

The device correspondence is faulty in 5.x and doesn't work well with instances that are not named exactly as the schematic.  Your only hope is to rename the devices to match the schem.

Which version are you using? IC614 is much better at figuring out connectivity correspondence after doing things like copy.

    Andrew.

    This was in IC5141.

The yellow marker was easy enough to get rid of once I found the marker layer in the LSW.

I found it was easier to just use ordinary virtuoso when doing layouts like this to eliminate the yellow marker issues and just create and place the pins by manually.
