I'm getting this error when i try to use a mimcap in my IBM PDK. all my other components seem to work.

I'd appreciate any suggestions... let me know if there may be a better forum for this also. Thanks in advance.

What is the version of your PDK and what version of virtuoso are you using?

Zach - the pdk is 1.5.0.0 and i'm using cadence 2009 (virtuoso 6.1.3).

The current PDK is up to V1.5.0.6.  Try applying the patch and see if that helps.  If not, IC6.1.3 is probably too new.  The kit only supports IC6.1.2.

One other thought is that maybe rf9flp is improperly defined in your cds.lib file (or lib.defs...I forget).

Thanks for the tips, i'm working on updating the pdk. if the kit only supports IC6.1.2, none of the other components will work, right? I was able to run full simulations on circuits that did not involve the mimcap, but with other pdk components. I get this error when i'm trying to put the mimcap into my schematic. the same with the RF library - i shouldn't be able to use a FET from the rf9flp if i don't have the library installed, correct?

I doubt that this is dependent upon it being IC612 or IC613 or whatever. Hopefully it's just a problem with the specific version of the PDK - it would be worth talking to IBM's support if updating to the latest version doesn't fix it.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Kristen, I tried placing a mimcap with V1500 and IC6.1.3 and there were no errors.  You should still update to V1506, but I don't think that will solve the problem.  Be sure to copy the .cdsinit and .cdsenv files from the PDK's /examples directory to your working directory.  I can't think of any other solutions but if problems persist, please login to support.mosis.com and file an inquiry.  Please do not contact IBM directly as they cannot provide support to 3rd party users.  Regards, Zach.
