Stream out - text getting dropped

 Hi all,

I am streaming out a design, layout drawn in a technology called NCSU_TechLib_ami06.  There is a single drawing layer I see, in the LSW, called text.  In the layout I can swipe and select some hundreds of instances on this layer, and if I select only one of them and query the properties, I see bBox dimensions, and a Text slot, with something like "RESET" or "FRM_CLK" in it.  Each is placed over a geometry of a single connecting layer (metal1, metal2, poly) but it is not itself associated with that layer other than by its location, I believe.

When I do the stream out, the PIPO.LOG says, helpfully, "WARNING (347)  : : Failed to get the Stream layer rules for the layer-purpose pair `text:drawing'. All objects on this LPP will be dropped."

Is there some way to either copy those texts as text on the appropriate layers, or to make a pin text map table that will do so, such that the resulting GDS has pins or text with the appropriate names?

Thanks sincerely,

newdaddy

    Hi,

layers are only exported to gds if a mapping is defned. Virtuoso works with Layer-Purpose Pairs, GDS works

with layer and datatype numbers. So you need to tell the tool how the layer maps to the number. If this is nt

    defined, the layer is dropped.

In 5x and before this mapping can be defined two ways.

    1. An ASCII file table looking like this

    LayerName  PurposeName  LayerNumber DatatypeNumber

     2. GDS Number associated with the layer in the technology file

Starting with 6.x only "1" is supported.

Now, depending on how your mapping is done you need to modify the mapping file or the techfile.

    Regards,

    Marc
