name for expression in calculator

Hi,

I'm just wondering if there's a way to add one section "name"  for expressions in the calculator?  i'm dealing with many expressions in the design and it'll do a lot of good for me to be able to easily pick up the expressions I'm interested in.

THanks a lot!

Malolo

    Hi Malolo,

You can do this in IC615 in the Expression Editor (in the calculator). You can then refer to the expression by name - so you can use the results of one expression in another.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Thanks a lot, Andrew.   ic615 does have that feature, pretty cool.

another question is, could you write the expression for me to check the value (gain) at a specific frequency ? if the gain is VF("/out")/VF("/in") ?   I know this kind question sound trivial, but is there a general source where i could turn to ? SKILL is overwhelming to beginners. Thanks,

    Malolo

    Hi Malolo,

Use the value function. For example:

    value(VF("/out")/VF("/in") 1.2M)

to give you the value at 1.2MHz.

Using the calculator should allow you to figure these things out. Also read the OCEAN Reference Manual in the documentation, as well as the SKILL Language User Guide.

Cadence offers a course on OCEAN too (I'm a bit biased because I wrote it ;-> ).

    Andrew.
