A summary of via types in my layout hierarchy

stuso
stuso over 14 years ago

Hi Guys, in IC6 is there a way to get a summary of all via types used in my layout, down the hierachy. I'm not interested in how many of each type is used i just want to know if its used.

Looks like the layout tree does not contain via info.

I'm thinking that i could stream to gds and then manipulate the PIPO.log to get via list or that i could use skill to identify the vias, but i just wondered if there is a faster or more elegent solution.

Cheers

Stu

     Hi Stu,

    You can look at the viaHeaders attribute, for example, at the top-level and get information that way, e.g.

    geGetEditCellView()~>viaHeaders~>master~>cellName
    => ("M2_M1" "M3_M2" "M4_M3" "M5_M4" "M6_M5")

    Hopefully this will help you in your task?
    Best regards,
    Lawrence.

    More direct is:

    cv~>vias~>viaHeader~>viaDefName

    If you want to collect this over a hierarchy, you'd need to do a recursive traversal of the design hierarchy (pretty simple to do).

    Andrew.

     Hi guys, do you mind if i enquire further regarding hierachy traversal. I have been trying to use the ccpExpandDesign for this:

    skipLibs=list("analogLib" "basic" )

    reflibs=gdmCreateSpecList()
        foreach( refLib skipLibs
          gdmAddSpecToSpecList(gdmCreateSpec(refLib "" "" "" "CDBA") reflibs)
        )

    top_cell_gmmSpec=gdmCreateSpec("STU_LIB" "STU_TOP_CELL" "schematic" nil "CDBA")

    my_top=ccpExpandDesign( my_gdm 'CCP_EXPAND_COMANAGED reflibs  )

    which returns a warning:

    *WARNING* (ccpiTraverse) Illegal reentry!

    gdmSpecList:562139688

    Is this warning acceptable? If so how do i then manipulate "my_top" which appears to be a database object, does it somehow contain a list of my design hierachy cells?

    Many Thanks

    Stu

    Stu,

    my_gdm doesn't appear to be defined in the example above. I assume you meant to use top_cell_gmmSpec? I can find no information about this warning, but it sounds as if there is something suspect about your data - maybe you are indeed using the wrong variable?

    Just for completeness, here's an example of using these functions (although I'm not using the reflibs arg like you are). I did just try it myself on an example, and don't get the message you get.

    Uses the new ccpExpand facilities to expand library data,
    either using the pc.db files (parent child databases),
    or using config files to find all the cellViews or libraries
    used. This is quicker than opening databases, and also supports
    configurations.

    Each of the four functions can be used externally.
