spectreMDL montecarlo histogram

When you run montecarlo through spectreMDL, it generates a file containing statistics for the outputs. But, I would also like to look at the histograms so I know the statistics are valid.

Any clues on how to accomplish this through ADE?

The output files are in  binary, so I can't cook up a script to generate a histogram myself..

    In IC61 there's a "histo" function in the calculator (in SKILL mode - i.e. what you'd get in ADE). If you use the results browser to open up the "raw" directory you get from simulation, and then open the "meas" database. For example, if using the MDL workshop that's in the MMSIM installation, you can run the montecarlo example:

     spectremdl -design dflip.scs -batch monte.mdl

    and then in ViVA open the tranmeas_meas-meas_montecarlo results. If you plot any of these normally, you'll get the values versus iteration number. Or you can use the histo function in the calculator on the expression - specify the number of bins, and if you want it to auto-scale use nil as the min and max value:

     histo(getData("rise_out" ?result "tranmeas_meas-meas_montecarlo") 10 nil nil)

    This function is not available in IC5141 - you can use the code in solution 11564594 to give you a histogram.

    Alternatively if you run "viva -expr MDL" or "wavescan -expr MDL" you can open the same result set and use the histo function in the MDL calculator. In this case you can leave min and max blank if you wish it to auto-scale.

    Even with AWD... though it's hard to guess the exact procesure to follow..

    download the skill attached to SR 11564594

    load it

    use the results browser to get the measurement capture expression it will include. (this is more intuitive with the wavescan results-browser)

    ?result yourMeasurementName_meas-meas_montecarlo where the _meas-meas_montecarlo is something you can't guess..

    Since this is a waveform, you can plot the histogram using

    plot( abHisto( getData("exportedName" ?resultsDir "/path/to" ?result "Measuremen Alias with _meas-meas_ appended") #bins) )

    It's not that hard though if you use the OCEAN functions:

     ocean> openResults("dflip.raw")
    "dflip.raw"
    ocean> results()
    ("dcmeas_meas-meas_montecarlo" tran dcOp "tranmeas_meas-meas_montecarlo")
    ocean> selectResult("tranmeas_meas-meas_montecarlo")
    ocean> outputs()
    ("clk_data_delay" "outcross" "clk_q_delay" "maxq" "minq"
        "rise_out"
    )

    So you can see the available result names. Then you can do (since selectResult has been done):

    plot(abHisto(getData("rise_out") 10))
