OA database: Design database revision (59) is not compatible with current revision (99).

Hi all

I am doing the top level design with Cadence IC 6.1.5, using some ST CMOS 65nm design kits/libraries. Now the libraries im using contain both the CDS and CDSOA (openaccess) version for the pads.

For the OA database i select the CDSOA libraries (containing layout.oa), but IC 6.1.5 fails to read them displaying this msg:

*WARNING* (DB-270000): dbOpenCellViewByType: Design database revision (59) is not compatible with current revision (99).

Now, the reason seems to be the OA database versions.

The second post says:

>>The messages you're getting
>>suggest an incompatibility in OpenAccess versions - I think the trouble
>>is that you're using too old an IC version, and consequently you're
>>trying to open some library cellViews built with a newer version.

I want to know, if the best way is to :

1. use a new DK ST 65nm CMOS among foudary libraries, OR

2. use cdb2oa script to convert cdb pad libraries to oa, and then check if the warning appears, OR

3. Some third "clever" solution ?

Regards,

Aamir

It suggests that the library was generated before IC61 (maybe in ICOA5141 or ICOA5033). You probably need the "dfIIoa20222" utility, which is no longer shipped in later IC61 versions. You'd need to install IC610 (it's in IC610 and IC611 versions) and use it from there. cdb2oa won't help you, because it's not in CDB format.

These OA versions were not used much - so probably it would be wise trying to get an up to date library from the supplier.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Thanks Andrew for the reply. I will shuttle to the new libraries available from ST.

Actually the problem arose when we converted the dense layout from CDB via cdb2oa, and found out the issues in the layout upon OA conversion (such as DRC, alignment errors etc.)

Anyhow, due to short time we will tapeout in CDB for this time it seems.

     Thanks for continous help
