buffer or soure follower (common drain)

 Hi ,

i am designing a circuit for signal processing ,and i meet a problem with the output driver.  i want to use two nmos to acheive my idea, one over lap another, and the bottom mosfet works at the current source, this is the common idea too. but i found the output signal is not closed to vin(x1), that means if the input voltage is 2.4v and the output will be 1.7, i think this drop down voltage is the threshold voltage. how can i make the output stronger? commonly, the output will be closed to 2.4 (ideal one), share your opinion with me, i work under the 0.35um process.

regards,

zfeng

Use a push pull common source. You will find lots of simple output stage circuits in most analog books with full swing and also explanation why your current class A circuit is not swinging to VDD. An efficient but complicated o/p stage would be class AB controlled push-pull (refer paper by Huijsing JSSCC 1995).
