Speeding up transient simulations in Cadence Spectre

I am doing a transient simulation for a sigma delta modulator and the simulation time required to complete is quite long. I have come across the "accelerated parallel simulation" option in cadence that could speed up the simulation but i am not aware of the process of setting up that option. I would appreciate some guidance on setting up APS or preferably, a step-by-step tutorial also any other suggestions for speeding up the simulation is most welcome. My spectre version is: 5.10.41.500.6.137 Thank You

That's a pretty old version of spectre. Spectre started being released separately from the IC installation with MMSIM60 at the end of 2004. Whilst the version of spectre in the IC5141 did have some showstopper fixes, there have been no enhancements for 7 years.

So, you need to get the MMSIM release - since then there have been MMSIM6.0,  MMSIM6.1, MMSIM6.2, MMSIM7.0,  MMSIM7.1, MMSIM7.2, MMSIM10.1 and MMSIM11.1 (i.e. 8 major releases). A lot of simulation technology in the meantime!

So, you should get a recent version, install it, and put it in your path. Then you'll probably also need an up to date hotfix of IC5141 to ensure the UI support is up to date. Once you've done that, it's a matter of using Setup->High Performance Options in ADE and you can pick APS mode of spectre. You have control over the number of threads it uses (which affects the licenses used).

For more detail, contact your local Cadence support office or your account manager.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
