cross probing from schematic to layout in 6.1.5

Hello all, I've been using xl since it came out and never had a problem with the probing. I used to be able to hit 9 in the schematic and it would cross prob to the layout. Since we switched to 6.1.5 that has gone away. Also when I draw a path now it has no connectivity even when I create a wire. The wire shows the connectivity until the command is complete( when the wire is finished) the connectivity goes away. When I connect directly onto a pin it asks me if I which layer I want to connect with and I select the the connectivity goes away. So when I probe it only has a flight line from the center of the cell that was created and the pin on the standard cell. Before I used to get the whole line highlighted. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks James

    Hi James,

First I would strongly recomend to use Create Wire and not Create->Shape->Path.

Create Wire automatically picks  right width, layer. It also can automatically finish the entire net, autonatically create a via...

All IC615 tools and features efficiently works with pathSegments.

There is no problem to use path(and in some cases you have no choice as to use it).

VXL creates connectivity and works fine with them too. There is  no problem to prob path too.

I would suggest to use Create->Shape->Geometric Wire rather than Create->Shape->Path.

The path will have connectivity if you start it from pin or from already existed wire.If you create your path stand alone it would not have connectivity attached to it.

In  IC61 it's really easy to add connectivity to the stand alone path through Property Assistant.

    About probing.

There are many different ways to probe. And there is big difference between probing ,selecting and highlighting.

For probing you can  use navigator->select the net->RMB->Probe.Should work fine.

You can  use Navigator to highlight nets too.If you have an open, you will see a flighline to the next connection point.

You can also  use Annotation Browser to highlight the nets.

    Regards,
