Questions in stream out the layers used in a layout that includes three chips

Hi,

I use IC51 and for the resource limitation, I have to tapeout three chips altogether in one gds file.

For the tapeout, I stream out a gds file "Chips_top.gds" of my design and I want to know the layers really used.

(1) Is PIPO.LOG the correct place I could know the layers go with this layout?  Any place else?

(2) "Chips_top" contains three independent chips, say chip1, chip2 and chip3. Why in the PIPO.LOG file only the layers of single chip is "explicitly" listed? I try several times; sometimes layers of chip1 is listed, sometimes layers of chip2 is listed and sometimes layers of chip3 is listed. Although I know the layers of these three chips could be the same, but still feel uncomfortable why the layers of only one chip is "explicitly" listed. Is there a way to let PIPO.LOG "explicitly" list all the layers in "Chips_top.gds" ?

Thanks a lot !!

Your question is not very precise. Did you leave the Top Cell Name blank on the File->Export->Stream form and just fill in the Library Name? Otherwise it would only stream out a single cell hierarchy starting from the named top cell.

In my case, the PIPO.LOG listed all the layers used across all cells streamed out. I know it contains all because I have one cell with 2 layers which do not appear in the other cell hierarchy, and similarly the other cell hierarchy contains 5 layers that don't exist in the first cell - yet I see all 7 layers.

I'm using 5.10.41.500.6.151 - perhaps you're using some older version? Would have been useful to know the subVersion you're using (shows in the top of the PIPO.LOG).

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Hi Andrew, thanks a lot for your feedback.

Today I restart the icfb and do the same thing the problem I had last week is gone.

I guess a possible mistake I made was using Cadence to stream out and using Calibre to run DRC/LVS, one after aonther. Although the working directory of Cadence stream out is set to be different from Calibre's gds out directory, I guess something wrong happened so that the files output during LVS/DRC overlapped the Cadence stream out files.

I use similar IC51 version as yours and I did not leave the Top Cell Name blank.

A side question, not related to this topic:  why recently I often ca not login into this website.  I input correct email address and password but this web just do not let me in?

I too have seen some login problems recently. I find that I have to go to www.cadence.com and then Log In at the top, and then after that I can click on links in the emails from the forums and reply. If I'm not logged in when I try to reply it fails to log in properly. I plan to report this to Cadence IT to get resolved - just haven't had a chance yet...

    Andrew.
