Cannot start simulation with ADE XL under IC6.14

We have been successfully using IC5.141 on a same OS and running Spectre simulation.

Now we installed IC6.14, and there are problems when starting simulation with ADE XL. When i press the start button it just stays there forever, and in the console i see:

t

nil

Someone has told me that its because ADE XL needs to explicitly know about the fonts, and you just need to redirect them.

I have checked  the log file in .vnc-cds folder in home directory, and the last lineof that log was:

Font directory '/usr/share/X11/fonts/' not found - ignoring

But the thing is, that directory DOES exist, with all the X11 related folts inside..like 75DPI,100DPI folders..

so what could be the problem then?

thanks.

     so no any ideas?

one more detail, on the 32bit machines with absolutely similar setup and OS it works just fine!

the issue is only on the 64bit machines!

(on 64bit machines .cshrc has this flag set: setenv CDS_AUTO_64BIT ALL)

other than that there are no differences in software/OS/versions setup between two types of machines.

so what could be a reason then?

It might be this solution. Although probably not because that is for something that was a problem prior to IC614.

Try running "virtuoso -nograph" and see if you get any errors - quite likely there are missing shared libraries. You might also want to try running "checkSysConf". Also try running in 32 bit mode on the 64 bit machines (don't set the CDS_AUTO_64BIT; this is only needed if you need the capacity - you can run 32 bit software on a 64 bit OS).

I'd suggest contacting Cadence Customer Support if the above don't help.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

without setting 64bit ALL flag on 64bit machines it gives Segmentation Fault.

-nograph didnt revealed any missing libraries or errors.

so i guess it is an OS issue (which is ...unforutnately not officially supported), we'll just have to use that on 32bit machines for now.. no reasonable solution yet.

    thanks anyway.
