Pin alignment between two sub blocks.

I'm trying to align pins from the right edge of one block to the left edge of the another block. I have used the pin assistant to put the pins on the correct block sides, there just not in the same location. How do I align them? In other tools, there was a propagation command that was capable of coping a pin from one block to the other in the same spot. During floorplanning, im placing pins thru out the blocks so I can hand them off to get routed up and so forth, but I can't seem to get the pins to align unless I manually move the pins to align with the counter parts in the other block! I have tried using the skill code for pins, Alignment command, pin Assistant, nothing allows me to align a pin from one soft sub block the other soft block, I have to move it manually. The pin assitant should be able to see the pin on a abutting block and automatically align to it and not manually.. Any help here! I have hundreds of pins between multiple boundaries!

    Hi,

The Virtuoso Floorplanner's ->  Pin optimizer or  Pin align commands can help with this requirement.

    Please refer to:

     http://support.cadence.com/wps/PA_DocumentViewer/pubs/fphelp/fphelp6.1.5/chap10.html#1075637

This will work on blocks marked as softMacro . Also, the docs above are for IC6.1.x, in IC5.1 same can be achieved using Virtuoso Preview.

     Hope this helps,

    Regards,

    Vikram
