Virtuoso Schematic: Renaming wire segment without renaming entire net

In Schematic L/XL, is it possible to rename just one connected segment of a wire that is shorted by wire labels to other segments? I mean I want to break the connection of this wire to the net it was connected to by wire name label. The only way I know how to do this now is to delete all the wires and start over, placing a new wire label at the end. If I leave even a tiny piece of wire it still is connected to the old net.

I'm sure this question must have been asked but I can't find anything. Sorry for the newbie question.

Delete the existing label from the segment ( if one is there) and add a new one with the new name.
