setting the display of arrayed cell names

Is there a way to change the default way Virtuoso obfuscates arrays of layout cells?

The default top level view of an arrayed "instance" of cells is a generic device name such as "M1", "M2", "M3", etc.

Can we change this so that arrays are viewed at the top level with a descriptive name - cell_name_[ # x # ], eg buf_1x16?

In IC615 (and IC614 - didn't check earlier) it shows "instName (N x M)". You can also choose to show both the instance name and cellName, so you'll get like this picture. Is that the kind of thing you want?

Yes, thank you Andrew, your screen shot is closer to what I'd like to achieve.  I should have included the version in my post.  I am running 5.1.0.  With this version I do see that I can modify the instance names when creating them or afterward, in the properties menu.  That in itself is helpful.

What I do not see is how to make the default naming for an array to be the cell name that is being arrayed, followed by a suffix of the number of rows x number of columns.  In addition, parens seem to be considered illegal characters in my version of Virtuoso.

Are you aware of any way to change the default naming to get away from generics like "M1"?

Whilst it's possible to alter the default prefix for array/mosaics with:

    envSetVal("cdba" "dbArrayInstNamePrefix" 'string "MYPREF")

that's fixed - not dynamic based on the size.
