Virtuoso 6: visibility of layers in different edit-windows?

Dear all,

i cannot find any information in the documentatioon or in this forum, so here my question:

On virtuoso 6.1.4 as well as 6.1.5, if i have more than one edit-window opened, the selection of visible and selectable layers runs in parallel:
when i change visibility of a layer in one window, the other windows will change the same way (in the layer selection, drawing area will follow after redraw).

Is this the standard behaviour or a setting that has been defined at our site?

Is there a way to show different sets of layers in different windows within the same instance of virtuoso?

thanks for your help, kind regards

Stefan

    Hi Stefan

By default, changes in the layer palette in any window affects all other windows. It is a standard behaviour. You can use layer sets to avoid this. Please save different layer sets for different windows. In the picture below, you can see that my layer palette settings are different using sets "aaa" and "bbb".

    Best regards
    Quek

     Hi Quek,

    many thanks for your help;
according to your screenshots, you are working on 6.1.5. On this version everything works fine, i get the desired and expected behaviour.

On 6.1.4 (6.1.4-64b.500.12) this procedure leads to a very strange effect:
The LSWs of the two windows show different selection of layers, but in both windows the same set of layers is drawn: LSW1 says A, F, G, but A, B, C are drawn. If i add "M" to be visible in LSW2/window 2, it will be displayed in both windows, but without changing the selection of layers in LSW1.

Anyway, 6.1.5 will be the preferred version in the near future, so your solution is very helpful to me.

    regards
    Stefan
