Config View for a cell

Many thanks for posting the new thread. This would allow us to have more focus on your question and to give you the best answer. : )  Thank you also for referencing the original post. I think you have made a very excellent post.

A config view allows you to use different views for different cells during netlisting. When ADE netlist a schematic directly, every instance has to be netlisted according to the viewList and stopList values which have been specified. When netlisting through a config view, users can set different views for different instances. E.g. a schematic contains 3 cells A, B and C. In the config view, we can set cellA to use verilog view, cellB to use schematic view and cellC to use an extracted view. This gives great flexibility in doing simulations.

Here is how you can create a config view:
a. In library mananger, go to "File->New->CellView"
b. Select "config" type. The application will be automatically set to "Hierarchy Editor"
c. A "New Configuration" form appears. Set the "View" to schematic and press "Use Template" button
d. A form appears. Select "Spectre" template and press OK twice to close both forms.
e. The config view creation is completed. You can now use it to set different views for the different cells.

Thank you Quek for the reply. It is very comprehensive.

Just a couple of more queries,

•  if for example I have multiple views of the same cell i.e verilog,schematic & extracted, then what should I do? should I leave the column "View to Use" empty for all of the views except the one I require for the simulation?. 
• The row named "View List" does not show extracted or analog_extracted in the default template of spectre. Should I add them in this list ?.

You can choose the view according to your needs. E.g. to speed up a mixed signal simulation, choose verilog view. To do post layout simulation, choose extracted. If you leave it empty, ADE will netlist according to the viewList and stopList. If you choose a view, it means you are overriding the default choice with your selection.

It is ok not to add anything to the default template. Usually I just choose the views that I need for some cells. By the way, "ver5.14" is too vague as this version has been around for a long time. The specific version from "icfb -W" should be posted if you have any other new posts. : )  It will give a more specific sub-version (e.g. IC5141-500-6-151).

I am still using IC5.1.41, and it is done in the same way Queck told you to do. you can see it here. just chose the appropiarte view in this case the extrcted view for pot-layout simulation of your design

Can we have all the view (all different views) in the same schematic and simulate it to see the comparison ?

Yes, you can do that. In the hierarchy editor use the tree view and you can set the view to use to be different for different instances.
