Problem running remote simulation in ADE

Hi

I am having the following problem while trying to run a remote simulation in ADE using IC 5.1:

In ADE window I go to Setup ->  Simulator/Directory/Host, select remote, then enter Host, Project Directory and Remote Directory

When I press OK I get the following WARNING:

*WARNING* - Virtuoso® Analog Design Environment: Local directory /iie/home01/barabino/simulation and remote directory /iie/home01/barabino/simulation on host yerbal do not appear to be the same

In fact they are the same because the same network disk is mounted on both hosts

Also, although it is a WARNING it acts like an ERROR because it does not allow me to continue with the setup

I am running icfb.exe version 5.1.0 07/26/2009 22:40 (cicln04)

I appreciate any help

Regards

Nicolas

Another question: Why is it that I find so litle information about this on the web? Is there another way of simulating on a remote host using ADE?

    Hi Nicolas

It is possible that you are facing a bug issue reported in our R&D request CCR644971. A possible workaround is to set the following environment variable:

    envSetVal("asimenv.startup" "remoteTimeOut" 'int 100)

You can get more help from Cadence online support website.

    Best regards
    Quek

The other possibility is that "rsh" is not supported in your environment (maybe you have to use ssh?), or that "rsh" requires a password?

In IC5141, only "rsh" is supported - the workaround is to replace rsh with a link to ssh.

Best thing is to contact customer support at http://support.cadence.com

    Andrew

Hi Thank you Andrew and Quek for your answers. Adding that line to .cdsenv solved the problem. Now I can run the simulation, however it hangs with: "Entering remote command mode using MPSC service (spectre, ipi, v0.0, spectre1_7543_5, )." Any ideas? Best Nicolas

    Hi Nicolas

I seem to recall the using the following option can resolve the new problem:

    spectre.envOpts controlMode string "batch"

    Best regards

Did you set that before you started ADE? It won't work if ADE is already running...

Great!, now it works. However I have to enter manually that line, it seems not to recognize it on .cdsenv, why is it that? Best regards Nicolas

    In .cdsenv the syntax is:

    spectre.envOpts controlMode string "batch"

Or you can put it in the .cdsinit with the envSetVal() syntax.
