Wierd selection option

I am working with virtuoso version 6.1.5.500.17 and i created a block that is behaving as expected. The issue comes from a block built by someone else. When I select any object in their cell it sort of shadows/darkens the rest of the layout around it leaving the seletion to look highlighted. I have been looking for differences between my .15 projects and this one but no solution has been found.
