Hi Andrew,

when simulating a circuit in cadence ic610 i get the below error -

Loading /home/daglitch/cadence/installs/MMSIM61/tools.lnx86/cmi/lib/4.0/libinfineon_sh.so ...

cpp: error: unrecognized option '-$

spectre completes with 1 error, 0 warnings, and 0 notices.
spectre terminated prematurely due to fatal error.

is this  error due to installation issues? i am not able to figure out. please help.

 thanks

A1. lmdown. Not sure why you need to keep stopping it, but that's the official command to stop the license server.

A2. cdnshelp - if you run cdnshelp either from the <instDir>/tools/bin of the stream in question, or you add the path to an <instDir>/doc into the Library tab of Edit->Settings in your cdnshelp, you can access any of the help. That said, if you're using 6.1.0.244 then that's so old that it pre-dates cdnshelp. You could use cdsdoc, but it's harder to use and get working, especially on modern operating systems.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Can you please also let me know that will just placing the updates license.dat file in the share/license folder be enough to run the latest version of MMSIM or any other scripts also have to be run like lic_configure etc..

    regards

In general we usually recommend setting the UNIX environment variable $CDS_LIC_FILE to the port@hostname where you're running the license server rather than putting the license file in the share/license directory in the installation.

More information can be found at <INSTdir>/doc/license/license.pdf

If you've done that, you don't need to touch your installation.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

      P { margin-bottom: 0.21cm; direction: ltr; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); }P.western { font-family: "Liberation Serif","Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 12pt; }P.cjk { font-family: "WenQuanYi Micro Hei"; font-size: 12pt; }P.ctl { font-family: "Lohit Hindi"; font-size: 12pt; }A:link { }

do we need a separate license files for mmsim and ic610?

    Thanks for the reply.

I am tryting to perfomr monte carlo simulation in ADE L, and also tried in ADE XL but i thinl monte carlo simulatin option is under the Tools menu in ADE window. In my case its not appearing. What could be the reason?

In IC5141, Monte Carlo was accessed under the Tools menu in ADE and was an licensed option to ADE.

In IC61X, Monte Carlo is part of ADE XL and the upgrade to the licensed option covers ADE XL. If using current versions of IC61 (you were using the very old IC610), there's a menu in ADE L to Launch ADE XL directly from ADE L which makes running Monte Carlo straightforward for an ADE L user.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Thanks for the reply. I will check that out.

One more thing. If we design a new mosfet in silvaco TCAD and extract its parameters. So is there any way to integrate this model into cadence virtuoso for intantiating it in schematic / layout editor and there by perform simulations etc. On this new model?

No idea, sorry. I've never looked into that. Maybe somebody else on the forum has done this or maybe you could ask Silvaco?

Thanks for the reply. I have a doubt regarding changing the grid spacing in the schematic composer & the layout editor of virtuoso.

Is the grid spacing dependant on what technology file is attached to the library at the time of creation of the library?

Is it advisable to change the grid spacing to adjust things while drawing the layouts?
