Changes to option form do not take effect immediately - Virtuoso

I've recently started with a Cadence installation at a new company and am seeing some strange behavior. I'm sure there is some Linux or Cadence option I have set wrong.

The best way I can describe my problem is that changes I make on an <F3> options form do not take effect immediately. For example, if I want to place an instance rotated, I click on the "Rotate" button on the bottom of the "Create Instance" form. What I expect to happen is that the outline of the instance under the mouse will rotate, and when I click a rotated instance is placed. What actually happens is that the outline DOES NOT rotate, and when I click the instance is placed WITHOUT rotation. The outline then rotates, and successive placements are correctly rotated.

More than just the "Rotate" button is affected. If I "Create Via" and change the number of rows/columns in the option menu, the "ghost" via under the mouse does not change and a click places a via with the old rows/columns. Once I place the first via, the "ghost" changes to the correct rows/columns and subsequent placements are correct.

I've seen similar problems in Schematic, mainly with the "Create Pin" or "Create Label" forms where the "ghost" pin or text only appears after I tab out of the text field. Probably related but not nearly as annoying...

I've not seen this before (at least I don't recognize the symptoms). I suggest you contact customer support.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
