vcvs multiplier

How do you specify a voltage signal -- output of an amp for example-- as the multiplier in a vcvs?

You need to use spectre's "pvcvs" with two controlling inputs and one output, with coeffs of [0 0 0 0 1]. So in spectre syntax:

       mult (op1 0 ramp 0 in1_ideal 0) pvcvs coeffs=[0 0 0 0 1]

If using Virtuoso, use the "pvcvsp" component from analogLib (note the "p" on the end as well as the beginning). This has a parameterizable number of controlling inputs. Set the number of controlling inputs to 2, and the symbol will change. Set the number of coefficients to 4 (the default), and then have coeffs 0 to 3 set to 0, and coeff 4 set to 1 (or whatever gain you want for the product of the two inputs).

The polynomial controlled source can also produce polynomial equations of each input and their combinations. See "spectre -h pvcvs" for more details.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
