Defining Spacing Rules inside the technology file

archive
archive over 18 years ago

Hi,
I want to define spacing rules inside the technology file. But if I compile the technology file, I get the following error message:

\o Loading techComp.cxt
\o Compiling class 'controls'....
\o Compiling class 'layerDefinitions'....
\o Compiling class 'layerRules'....
\o Compiling class 'devices'....
\w *WARNING* *Error* eval: undefined function - physicalRules

I defined the spacing rules according the cadence documentation:

physicalRules(
;orderedSpacingRules(
;       ;( rule layer1 layer2 value )
;       ;( ---- ------ ------ ----- )
;       ( minEnclosure "cellBoundary" "nwell" 0.1 )
;       ( minEnclosure "ndiff" "cont" 0.5 )
;) ;orderedSpacingRules

spacingRules(
        ;( rule layer1 layer2 value )
        ;( ---- ------ ------ ----- )
        ( minSpacing "Metal1" "Metal1" 2 )
) ;spacingRules

mfgGridResolution(
        ( 0.100000 )
) ;mfgGridResolution

) ;physicalRules

Does somesome know, what the problem is?

Kind regards,
haikom

    Hi,
ok, the compilation problem is solved. I switched the order of the class device and physicalRules and then the technology file was compiled sucessfully.
But now I'm wondering, because the minSpacing at the metal1 layer does not have any effect. I thought that if I draw two paths so that the minSpacing rules is active --> a pop-up window appears! But nothing happened. How can I test the rules?
    Kind regards,
    haikom
