Passing Result Waveforms from ADE XL pre-run script

I see that the ADE XL pre-run example scripts use this function:
ocnxlAddOrUpdateOutput()
The documentation states that it only passes scalar values. How would I pass a waveform from a pre-run script back to the ADE XL outputs?
