Extraction of Schematic in Read only mode

archive
archive over 17 years ago

I have found that out installation of Cadence requires the layout user to checkout a schematic to extract the conectivity for placing pins, prboundary and instances. I asked our CAD dept about this as previously whilst at another company we (layout) were not allowed to checkout schematics and yet we had not problem extracting the connectivity for layout.

Is there a setting the CAD dept need to change so that I don't have to checkout a sch every time I need to extract conectivity. Its frustrating having to ask the designers to checkin their sch just to create a floor plan layout (prboundary and pins).

Thanks,

Dave C
