Hi Cadence experts,

Need support in resolving Cadence icfb5141 startup issue on Solaris9.

When I start icfb, it shows red icfb window for a moment and kills with following messages on terminal "bus error". I see following warning message in CDS.log:

"w *WARNING* Could not find master env files to read.  Env package not initialized properly"

CDS.log is below:

Not sure how to debug this as the warning comes in the middle of Cadence initial bring up. Could not find any clue for this.

Thanks in advance for help.

Forgot to mention that checkSysConf passes on the system

I found some reported issues - one was where the software was installed on an ext4 filesystem on a Linux machine and then mounted on Solaris (not entirely sure why this was an issue).

The warning at the beginning comes from the fact that it is having trouble reading <ICinstDir>/tools/dfII/etc/tools - this is where the master cdsenv files live (one per tool). So maybe something is wrong with that or your installation? I did some experiments but couldn't quite reproduce the problem. That said, I wasn't using the exact version you're using.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

    Thanks for quick response.

Over weekend, I tried re-installing the tool but issue remains even with the new installation. Seems like something wrong with the hardware as I'm getting "Bus error" on the terminal. I'll test on the different hardware and see if it helps debugging. I'll update on my further debugs.

    Best regards,

    Bhupendra

I am experiencing this same issue on Solaris 10 which have the tools NFS mounted from a RHEL 6 server.  I suspect that Andrew might be correct ... I tried moving the tools to the local filesystem and everything worked fine. Since this exact same setup worked less than 3 months ago, I think an update on the Linux server might have broken compatibility with Solaris clients. I have also tried with both NFS v3 and v4 off of the RHEL 6 server and the problem persists. I then tried mounting the tree off of a Synology (Linux-based) NAS with the same NFS options and everything worked. It's extremely strange but at least I've finally narrowed it down to an NFS/filesystem anomaly.
