Noise of a Voltage to Frequency Converter (VFC)

Hello,

 

I am designing a Voltage to Frequency Converter with input range [1mV; 10mV] around Vdd/2 for neuronal signals.

i want to calculate the input referred noise of this VFC.

1) what is the most efficent way to do it ?

2) i used the Pss+Pnoise analysis, but once i have the the phase noise (jitter noise), how i can referred it to the input (because i have specification just on the input referred noise).

3) Can i use the transient noise analysis for this type of circuit?

4) Is there anyway to Calculate the noise in Matlab?

    You can compute input-referred noise with pnoise analysis. You're not computing phase noise or input-referred phase noise (I'm not sure that would be meaningful), but you can certainly get the input referred noise. I'm not entirely sure it's going to be in the form you want, so you might be best talking this through with customer support so we can get a better idea of what your specification looks like.

    I don't think transient noise or Matlab would be particularly helpful here. Transient noise will be less efficient for a start and doesn't really separate out the noise from the signal.
