Skill in Virtuoso Layout, create instance with outline following mouse

I am having a difficult time properly searching for the following how-to-do with Skill in Virtuoso Layout (6.15.500.8):

I have a utility to create some instances, and I would like to have an outline follow the mouse like the ordinary create instance functionality.

However, I am unsure how to go about this, and even have run out of useful search terms to find it in the forums and google. Right now I have a modeless window (a Form) and I can select all the options I need, and I can generate the correct final output. What I would like to be able to do is to have an outline follow the mouse until the user clicks the button where it will be placed, and allow the user to also modify the parameters in between placement instances of my generated output. I currently have it such that when you press a key, it places an instance at the current mouse position, and subsequent mouse clicks also place them, but you cannot see where it is going to be placed until after the click.

Any suggestions on where to look for info? Or even better: A code snippet? :)

Thanks!

    Hi Rob,

I'm not sure if this is possible - it sounds as though you want to have the same functionality as leHiCreateInst() ?   I don't know if you can use geHiDragFig() as a workaround? For this case you might need to place it first and then move/drag it? See this thread for a brief pointer...

    Regards,

    Lawrence.

You are correct, that is the functionality I am going for. The geHiDragFig() sounds like it might work. I'll check it out!

    Thanks!
