Virtuoso Chip Assembly Router

I want to perform automated routing using VCAR such that my metal layers of supply lines (VDD & GND) can be defined by user itself and is routed in that layer only.

Right now even if i define layer of vdd and gnd net in say M4 even then routing is performed in layer suited to VCAR. How can i do this?

If possible please suggest any command so that i can add in my do file for different layouts.

    Hi Ujjwal,

    You didn't mention what release of virtuoso you are using.

    If you are using 6.1.6 you can define constraints for the nets (either a class or process-rule override) using VLS-XL and specify valid layers.

    Alternatively, you can do this in VCAR by defining costs for the routing layer.

    This can be done at the design level, layer level or, what I think you need, at the net level.

    Click rules->net->wiring

    You can click on the "use layers" button.

    That's one way.

    Colin
