Warning about 'virtuosoDefaultExtractorSetup'

Hi.

I have added a new technology file (tsmcN90nm), When I want to create new library which is attached to this technology I get the following warnings:

*WARNING* (LCE-2011): Cannot determine the function of layer 'PDKREC' in constraint group 'virtuosoDefaultExtractorSetup' of technology library 'tsmcN90rf'. For accurate results during connectivity extraction, set the function to one of the predefined values and reload the technology library.
*WARNING* (LCE-2012): Cannot find the mask number of layer 'PDKREC' in constraint group 'virtuosoDefaultExtractorSetup' of technology library 'tsmcN90rf'. For accurate results during connectivity extraction, set the layer mask number to a correct value and reload the technology library.
*WARNING* (LCE-2012): Cannot find the mask number of layer 'OD' in constraint group 'virtuosoDefaultExtractorSetup' of technology library 'tsmcN90rf'. For accurate results during connectivity extraction, set the layer mask number to a correct value and reload the technology library.
*WARNING* (LCE-2012): Cannot find the mask number of layer 'NW' in constraint group 'virtuosoDefaultExtractorSetup' of technology library 'tsmcN90rf'. For accurate results during connectivity extraction, set the layer mask number to a correct value and reload the technology library.

Please guide me how to fix this.

    Hi,

it seems you do not have the necessary information in your tech file.

Take a look at the "functions" section:

I have added something that may match your situation

    functions(
     ;( layer                     function        [maskNumber])
     ;( -----                       --------            ------------)
      ( PDKREC              "recognition"        1            )
      ( OD                        "diff"                     2            )
      ( NW                       "nwell"                  3            )
      ......etc

This should fix the error messages

Thanks for your reply, I mention that I have not changed any thing in PDK, I have just convert the library from CDB to OA. May it be the reason of this fault?

    Yes. This is the reason.

But a 6.1.6 version of the tsmcN90nm library (OA) should be available.

I recommend you use that rather than translate an old 5.14 library.

    Regards

    Colin

OK, the last question, Is this kind of warning critical for designing and layout stages?

If you are using VLS-XL, the extractor will not work correctly down to the diffusion level.

So , you may not see any errors if you short any signals to diffusion.

It is probably O.K for the higher levels.

But, of course, you will need a LVS/DRC checker to fully verify your design at some point.
