Calculator:User buttons

 Hi,

Is there a way in the Calculator for the user to add a new button similar to the "vt/vf/vdc" ones which will allow him to select an instance in schematics and return the hierarchical path in the "buffer" window? :)

 Thank U,

Ionut

No, but maybe you can create a custom function instead. What exactly are you trying to do? Which version are you using?

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

Thank U for the feedback... The idea behind this is to create a user function called "instance_vds" which takes as an input a instance path (which contains 2 or more stacked devices) and performs Vds_instance1+Vds_instance2+...

I can create the user function to perform the above, but need a way for the user to select the instance to be parsed. The nice thing about the buttons such as vdc/idc is that they return in the buffer the full instance path, and when user selects a function it just applies on top of that. From that, I'm trying to figure out to do the same to return an instance path that the "instance_vds" will wrap around it when selected :)

Hope this helps to understand the test case :)

     Best regards,

    Ionut

I don't really have time at the moment to figure out a solution to what you're asking - not sure there's an easy way anyway. Please contact customer support for this issue.

    Kind Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

Just wanted to follow up on this topic. I have created a Skill function that takes as input an instance path and returns the Vds of the instance to the user.
The function reads the data from the DC sim results and user needs to add it in the AdeXL expressions as:
    getInstVds("Xtop.Xlevel1.Xinst")

As there will be multiple instances of interest, the process is tedious to pick all the instance and the hierarchical paths.

Do U have any suggestions on how this could be automated to allow user to select the instances from schematic for which the function to be applied?
(vt/vf/vdc type seem to be the best way, but not sure how will that fit in AdeXl/Calculator)

    Thank U,
    Ionut
