How to transfer layout to another technology

How to transfer layout to another technology e.g. from ts18 to sm18 (or another) ? I guess it must be done through GDS-format.

Could you give some advice on this issue?

    If the source and target technologies are 100% compatible (with just different layer names) then it may be possible to simply map layers with stream-out/stream-in with, possibly, scaling factors.

    But there are normally lots of other issues that need to be taken care of:

    Do you have p-cells in your design?

    If so, they need to be mapped to pcells of the target technology. The parameters will need to be mapped correctly

    Are the design rules the same in both technologies?

    Probably not, so you need to somehow fix the DRD errors of the re-targeted layout.

    There is a tool call Virtuoso Layout Migrate that is used for re-targeting. You may want to check the documentation.

    It needs some up-front work to setup a technology file and mapping scripts but I will leave that for you to decide.

    I agree with you that there may be DRC-mistakes, and need a small adjustment to the final layout. I try to understand Virtuoso Layout Migrate and read the documentation about it.
