How to see output.log file in ADE-XL like ADE in IC616/5141

Dear All,

I am migrating to ADE-XL for doing Monte-Carlo Analysis.

Though there is job.lg file I can see in ADE-XL, unlike ADE I am NOT able to see any option to see the output.log file ( this file (spectre.out) basically shows the progress of any type of simulation in time percentage, also errors and so on. but certainly very mush verbose ).

The job.log file only shows whether a run finishes successfully or NOT .

Could anybody please tell what should be done to see the output.log file like ADE.

Kind Regards,

ADE XL (in later IC616 hotfixes) does display the job log if a single simulation is being run, although monte carlo doesn't count as a single simulation, even if the number of jobs in the job policy is set to 1 and you're only simulating a single test and single corner.

However, once the run has started, you can switch the output pane from Yield to Detail (or Detail Transpose) and then using the right mouse button menu over one of the outputs (in the actual output column where results are displayed) you can pick Output Log. Because ADE XL may be running multiple simulations (if there's more than one test, or more than one corner, or you have the number of jobs in the job policy greater than 1), not all points may end up in the same spectre log - so you might have to look at multiple log files.

ADE XL doesn't display them because  you could end up running a very large number of separate simulations, and nobody would want a screen full of log files...

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Dear Andrew,

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I tried as you said. I found that the output-log option is NOT active so I can't click on it.

Is there any option which disables/enables output.log .

Which IC subversion are you talking about? Also, do you have the "save family data" option for monte carlo turned on (this is in the monte carlo settings - the "gear" icon next to the ADE XL run mode)?

    Regards,

    Andrew

    Dear Andrew,

The IC version is  sub-version  IC6.1.6-64b.500.7.

Yes, that is ON. I have attached the snapshot of that setting.

This seems to work for me OK in that subversion. You have to ensure that the simulation has actually started before you can look at the output log. There's actually no need to turn on the save family data for this bit to work (I tried without) - that only affects whether it keeps the actual waveform data or discards it during the run.

If this is not working for you, I suggest trying with a later subversion, and if that doesn't solve it, contact customer support.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
