Not able to interface spectre data with Matlab

Abhishek D
Abhishek D over 9 years ago

Hi All,

             I am facing this issue for some time now. Following the the snippet of the problem.

dir2='/home/abhishek/simulation/rc/spectre/schematic/psf'

dir2 =

/home/abhishek/simulation/rc/spectre/schematic/psf

data_list=cds_srr(dir2)
Error: License for the SpectreRF option could not be obtained.
??? One or more output arguments not assigned during call to "cds_innersrr".

Error in ==> cds_srr at 16
    sig = cds_innersrr(dirname);

As far as  I know I am able to run normal ADE-L transient simulation. Does SpectreRF requires additional license? I have gone through various entries on this forum . I tried to do the solutions but It didn't help.

Other information is as follows :-

1) Transient results are in psf format.

2) Also checked cds_srr function also it is there at the concerned location.

3) Typing cds_srr only doesn't give any error in matlab command prompt.

4) Matlab- R2008a

5) mmsim- 12.1.0.347.isr3

.bashrc entries are as follows :-

export MATLAB_PATH=/home/abhishek/MATLAB/
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=`cds_root spectre`/tools/lib/64bit:`cds_root spectre`/tools/dfII/bin/64bit:$MATLAB_PATH/bin/glnxa64:${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}
export MATLABPATH=`cds_root spectre`/tools/spectre/matlab/64bit:${MATLAB_PATH}
export PATH=$PATH:$MATLAB_PATH/bin

Kindly let me know where I am making the mistake.

Best Regards

Abhishek

    Abhishek,

    The error message is a hangover from the original implementation of the Spectre Toolbox for Matlab. It was originally developed by the SpectreRF team, and was the "SpectreRF Toolbox" because it had a number of RF-specific m files in the toolbox for measuring common RF metrics from SpectreRF simulation results.

    At that time, it took 2 MMSIM tokens, or used a SpectreRF license.

    In MMSIM7.2 (ISR4) it was changed to only need a Spectre license or a single MMSIM token. However, the error message still mentions the SpectreRF option (I just reproduced this even in MMSIM15.1).

    All it means is that you can't get a license. Do you have $CDS_LIC_FILE (or maybe $LM_LICENSE_FILE) set to point to your license server?

    Either that, or all the licenses are in use.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Thanks Andrew for the information.

    "Do you have $CDS_LIC_FILE (or maybe $LM_LICENSE_FILE) set to point to your license server?"

    Yes. it is done propelry.

    is it possible to use standalone matlab without invoking ADE_L and then doing the post processing?  In that case, license will not be in use right? Can you suggest what should I do to make to working?

    Best Regards

    Abhishek

    Abhishek,

    I assumed you already where using matlab standalone. It doesn't really matter whether you do it with matlab standalone or from a Matlab measurement in ADE XL (not sure that's what you were doing either) - it's the simulation license that matters, not the ADE license.

    There's some license debugging that could be done - but for that you should contact customer support.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Dear all,

    I am currently facing the same issue in interfacing SPECTRE with MATLAB using the SPECTRE/RF MATLAB Toolbox.

    The error is

    Error: License for the SpectreRF option could not be obtained.
    One or more output arguments not assigned during call to "cds_innersrr".

    I checked the environmental variables definition as suggested but there is still some problem.

    Regards,

    Raffaele

    Which version of MMSIM are you using (the version of spectre) - that you're getting the toolbox from?

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Raffaele,

    OK, not the most recent, but should work.

    I just checked and the way I could get this error is if I don't have $CDS_LIC_FILE set (or $LM_LICENSE_FILE) to point to my Cadence license server before I start Matlab. You need the licensing set up the same way that you would if you were running spectre, for example.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
