Problem seeing the layout content of the instances

I'm no very professional in working with Cadence, but I've know the fundamentals. I am working with the 90nm technology but when I want to add a NMOS as top level a square can be seen with no label on it,( I've worked with 180nm tech too but it had label on Mos boxes like "NMOS" for example), and when I press SHIFT+F to see its content it goes invisible( I've check Options,Display, stop level = 32 too but didn't help) but by Descending thorough the instance, layout can be seen. I am working with IC 6.1.4. how should I do to see the instants content in top level?

Please post some pictures so we can understand what you're talking about. This is very unclear.
