layout migration

Hi Cadence friends,

I have the following issue. My colleague has a circuit (schematic and layout) designed in a particular 180 nm technology. I am using another 180 nm technology. I want to incorporate his circuit in my design. So, I think  that we need to migrate his circuit for my technology, and probably Cadence can do it automatically. Could you say if I am correct and the tool names used for migration?

Thanks,

Regards,

Rafael

    Hi Rafael,

There is a tool call Virtuoso Layout Migrate which is used for migrating schematics and layouts.

But the setup is not too easy. It requires tech files, scripts and map files to map source pcell parameters to target pcell parameters.

Unless the source and target pcells have identical CDF parameters, you will need to perform the mapping yourself.

Migrating schematics is a bit easier, but you still need to take care of the mapping (I assume you have pcells in your designs).

I think it only makes sense if you are migrating lots of designs regularly; not just a single design.

But, for your info, look in the docs under "Virtuoso Layout Migrate User Guide"

    Hope this helps
