partName not updated when a cell is copied

Hello,

I have a problem when I copy a cell in Virtuoso. Let's say I copy cellA and I name the new cell cellB. In the copy cell form I also check Update Instances of Entire Library. However, if I place in my schematic a symbol of the new cellB, it appears as cellA !

By pressing Q, I see the following properties:

Cell Name: cellB

partName: cellA  (master value)

I cannot find a way to update the master value of partName, moreover I would like to update the master value automatically when I make a copy.

I didn't have this problem a few months ago, so maybe  this feature can be set.

Hope that you can help me, because copying cells has become very time consuming for me.

Thanks a lot!

Check the README file in the Virtuoso releases.   This problem has since been fixed in a later release, although I cannot tell you exactly which one because I don't know which stream you are on.

I believe this was fixed in IC615. So a mere 5 years or so ago...

Actually the specific issue with partName was fixed in IC615 in January 2011. The CCR you refer to was an issue where the copy updater failed if there was an error in the cds.lib (e.g. a double reference to a library, or a syntax error on a line). That was fixed in IC616 ISR14 and IC617 ISR1. That didn't just cause the partName update to fail, but all sorts of updater problems.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Thanks everybody. However I'm using a recent release: virtuoso version 6.1.6-64b 08/12/2015  sub-version  IC6.1.6-64b.500.13

But I have this problem: the part name is the old one

I didn't have that a few months ago, so I don't know if there's a set of commands I can run in my local work directory to avoid this problem. Could you please help me?

    Thanks

When you launch virtuoso do you get warnings in the CIW about libraries in the cds.lib? You might also see the same warnings when you open the library manager at the bottom of the library manager (also in the libManager.log). If so, you may be suffering from the problem that was fixed in ISR14 (the one after that which you're using). If you have any such warnings, please post them here...

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Thank you! That was the problem! I was referencing to an old library that was removed. Now I've deleted that old reference and it works! Thank you very much!!!
