How can i save one particular net in layout to a different view?

I need to save one particular net in the layout to a different layout name/view. This can be done with marking the net in layout using "Connectivity->Net->Mark" option and then i can save all the marked nets to a new layout view. But if i've a really huge net in the layout, the Mark net takes really long time. Is there a way i could specify this mark net in the background and save the marked net to a new layout using any skill script so that i can still continue working on the layout window. Mark net just freezes the entire cadence session until its done. So mostly, if the design is big, i could just do this run in the back ground.

The reason i do not want to use the Mark Net option is because it really really takes long time since my layout size is about 600umx600um usually and most of the tracks are routed in a very complex way throughout this area. I do not have the IC617 yet, i use IC616 and IC12.2. I've tried the Mark Net in both the versions that i've, it takes at least 30min easily for a net that i'm talking about. So, i was trying to have a method where this process wont hinder my work time and i can still use use the design window.

There never used to be a lot of functions in Cadence before (like in IC4 & IC5) that are available right now in the newer versions. But recently i started seeing a lot of them are already built in (like printing hierarchy in schematic, deleting ruler in layout hierarchy, the info balloon, function to zoom to a point, etc.) for which i used to have custom scripts when i used to use the earlier version of Cadence.

The option that i'm talking about is really one of the useful function that Cadence should think about having in built. But i would love to have it right now for my use if there is one.
