Is that necessary to choose "save all" when creating a "savestate file", and re-start the simulation from it.

Hi All

I am doing the top verification, in order to save the time, I'd like to skip the start-up phase by re-use the simulation states which has been saved before.

I read Cadence document, and find a solution to use "savestate file" to achieve it.

During the experimenting, I notice that I need to choose "save all", during the simulation to create "savestate file". Otherwise circuit operating point would be re-calculated in the next time point.

On the other hand, I take a look on the file size of  "savestate file", with "save all" and "save selected" setup. They are more or less the same.

Can someone give me some explanations, for whether it's necessary to choose "save all"  when creating a "savestate file", and re-start the simulation from it.

Best Regards

Yi

    Hi Yi,

There is no need to use save all when using savestate or recover. I'm not sure why you think that (they should have nothing to do with each other).

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew

I thought the same as you on the beginning.
So I just "save selected", and then create the "savestate file".

But when I try to restart the simulation, things does not go as what I expected.
The voltage drops to zero on the second simulation point.

But when I change to "save all", it works well.

So I ask the question here.

P.S I am trying out this on the top level verification, so the netlist is quite large.
As you mention "save all" is not relevant with the "savestate file"

I will give it another try with small scale of circuit first.

    Best Regards

    Yi

    Hi Yi,

If this is the case, it sounds like a bug to me. Please report it via customer support (we need the details).

    Regards,

    Andrew.
