Selection of non-visible object

Is there away to filter selection of data that isn't currently visible. By this I mean not selecting via's and pcell's that aren't visible because layers are turned off. This has always annoyed me but in 6.1.7 it seems even worse. I want the data that is visible to be selected when i click on it and not stuff that isn't even visible. I can't seem to find an option in any of the menus.

Thanks!

Rob

    Hi Rob,

Yes, this is possible. Use one of:

    envSetVal("layout" "viaSelectionMode" 'cyclic "useCutLayers")
    envSetVal("layout" "viaSelectionMode" 'cyclic "useNonCutLayers")

The first requires the cut layer to be visible/selectable in order to be able to select the via (as well as the via object), and the second requires both the top and bottom layer to be visible, or either the top or bottom to be selectable in order to select the via.

I've filed CCR 1671472 to get this added to an options form (ideally Options->Selection).

    Regards,

    Andrew.
