Path drawn in Cadence Vituoso Layout Editor seems to get attached with adjacent Via

Hi,

In Cadence Vituoso Layout Editor: When a Via is placed, and then, a path is drawn with it's end(s) overlapping with (or even terminating near) the Via, the path seems to get AUTOMATICALLY attached with the Via!

Then, the path can no longer be Stretched freely, the attached Via also gets moved along with (that's undesirable at times) - please refer to the attached pic.

Is there any way to disable this AUTOMATIC attachment of a Path with the Via?

This should be controllable if you hit the F3 key to bring up the options form when doing the stretch and changing the settings of Keep Wires Connected To from "All wires and vias" to "spine wires only".

You didn't say which version you're using, but  the default from IC616 onwards is for this to be spine wires only. In IC614 and IC615 (rather old these days) the default was "all".

The default can be controlled with the cdsenv setting:

    envSetVal("layout" "keepWiresConnected" 'cyclic "spine")

    Regards,

    Andrew.
