Copy variable value from ADE to schematic

Hi,

I made a design using variables in ADE to define transistors size for example.

I finished my design and would like now to substitute variables in design by its final value. I tried "Copy to cellview" from ADE. It didn´t work. Does it exist a way to do that? I have to make the replacement manually?

Best regards,

Emmanuel

    Hi Emmanuel,

as far as I know there is no easy and quick way to do that. "Copy to Cellview" will just put the current value to the variable in the schematic, so you can do a "copy from" the next time. It wont replace that variable.
You can do it in ADEXL. There you can manipulate device parameters without manually creating variables. You select the device in the schematic and can access it's parameters in the "Variables and Parameters" assistant. You can also define sweeps there. Please see the documentation about it. After the simulation you can backannotate a parameterset to the schematic, replacing the actual values.

    Regards,
    Marc

Is it possible to do the same with Design Variables? I have global variables and want to overwrite the schematic with them. but i would also like to keep my schematic WITH the variables in order to do a later edititing. Thanks in advance!

    Hi Christoff,

I'm not sure I fully understand your question. Are you asking whether it's possible to do 'Copy to Cellview'  from global variables or design variables(local variables)?

'Copy to Cellview' is only available for design variables as it copies the variable value to the cellview that the test is referring to- note that it does not replace the variable with that value in the schematic. With this way, the design variable value is displayed automatically whenever a new test is referring to that cellview in ADE. 'Copy To Cellview' shouldn't be available for global variables as they apply to all tests which designs use them- so you wouldn't want to copy the variable value to all the designs that use them.

    Regards,
