Not to remove instances whose terminals are connected together

Hi,

When I want to run simulation in Spectre, I noticed that the instances whose terminals are connected together are being removed. Is there a way to keep them even if their terminals are shorted together?

Thanks,

yayla

    Yayla,

Actually normal spectre doesn't remove the instances but just tells you about them. If you run with APS however (+aps on the spectre command line, or via the Setup->High Performance Simulation in ADE) then these shorted devices are removed. Since they are shorted, they should make no difference to the circuit behaviour and the removal is done to aid simulation performance.

If you really do want to keep them (and remember, this could slow the simulation down with APS if you keep them), there is an option to preserve instances on the High Performance Simulation form in ADE - you can either give the name of the instances or preserve all instances. This corresponds to the preserve_inst parameter of the spectre options statement (spectre -h options).

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the reply. I am running aps. There is some discrepancy between post-layout sim and silicon and we want to make sure that those removed devices don't cause any issue.
    Thanks,
    yayla
