Location of the hierEditor folder and any other [log] files

Can you please tell how to avoid ANY files to be created in my clean and tidy home directory, please ? I can't stand this... Cadence is the only software I use that does that.... Any other software will either ask me where to put the files or at least use a hidden directory... I'd also love to know where to find this piece of info in the doc. Thnak you very much for your help Olivier

    $CDS_LOG_PATH sets the directory where the log files such as CDS.log, DRE_CDS.log (which doesn't exist from IC617 onwards, I think), cdsHED.log (which went away after IC610, I think - so mainly IC5141 and before, when the Java HED was removed).

    I don't think the Hierarchy Editor saves a hierEditor folder in your home dir (it can pick up templates from there if you wish, but I don't think it saves it).

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew and thank you for your answer.
    I think I should apologize. The hierEditor directory is created in my hone directory because of one dkits scripts which does the following...

    # Copy in hierEditor template
    if ((! -e ~/hierEditor) && (-e ${AMS_DIR}/${AMS_DB}/start_up/hierEditor)) then
    echo "Creating Hierarchy Editor templates..."
    cp -rL ${AMS_DIR}/${AMS_DB}/start_up/hierEditor ~/hierEditor
    chmod a+rX ~/hierEditor
    endif

    Also now that my CDS_LOG_PATH is set correctly, the logs are no longer in an undesired place.

    Thank you very much Andrew
