How to subtract a wire/path from a polygon

Folks,

I am using Virtuoso (v 6.1.7). I'm making a lot of slotline structures in BEOL metals. I'd like to be able to simply draw a polygon on a given layer, then lay down a meandered wire of the appropriate width and length on another layer, and then subtract this wire or path from the larger polygon to produce a meandered slotline of a specific length.

Is anyone aware of a way to do this. To date I have been using the chop command to do this, but it's error-prone and quite time consuming for complex geometries.

Regards,

JW

Use Tools->Layer Generation. Pick the layer you drew the rectangle on as the first layer, and then the layer for the path as the second layer, with the "AND NOT" as the operator, and the layer you really want the shapes on as the output layer. Then select all the shapes you want to process (the rectangles and the meandering path) and hit OK or Apply. If you don't want to keep the construction shapes afterwards, you can just hit Delete when you're done as the construction shapes are still selected.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
