Hierarchy Editor: Instance bindings @ 2nd level of hierarchy depth

Hi all,

Suppose I have a cell Top that instantiates two copies of a cell A (instances: A_I0 and A_I1).  And suppose A instantiates a cell B (instance: B_I0).

Should I be able to set the view independently for /A_I0/B_I0 and /A_I1/B_I0?

When I try this in the hierarchy editor using "Tree view" it seems the views for these two instances are linked (if I change one, it updates the other).

To confirm, I can still switch the views for /A_I0 and /A_I1 independently.

Thanks in advance,

Cheers,

Phil

    Hi Phil,

You need to switch to occurrence binding rather than instance binding. This is the circled button in the picture below, and then the text changes at the top of the tree to say Target: Occurrence. You'll see that I created two (slightly pointless) bindings to I0/I3/M2 and I0/I4/M2 (both instances of the same cell). Occurrence bindings are by hierarchical path from the top.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
